The Gift of Each Day

Each new day offers a gift,
Something special about the day
To give the heart and soul a lift
And make life better in some way;
If you seek then you will find
That each day's gift will come to mind.
It may be sunshine through a cloud,
A rainbow glimpsed after the rain,
A friendly face in the midst of a crowd,
The sudden easing of a pain;
If you look around with a hopeful view,
The gift in your day will appear to you.

A gift may be in what you see,
Things you touch or what you hear,
The joy in simply being free,
The love of someone very dear;
If you take time to quietly pray,
God will reveal your gift today.

As you so rightly say each new day is a gift, if we waste it it's a sin. I loved your poem such a pleasure to read.

Hi Connie,

This is absolutely beautiful. When I first started blogging I had a beautiful picture of a rainbow that I had taken in my back yard. Rainbows are a sign of God's promises and every time I see one I am in absolute awe. I gasp in amazement of it's beauty and what it represents. Each day does offer so many precious gifts and if we are open to God and who He is, we will experience His beauty in whatever way, shape or form that it is presented to us with open eyes. Oh the wonderment of it all. How I love my Lord.

Thank you dear friend for such an inspiring beautiful post. God has surely gifted you with your words.

Blessings,
Alleluiabelle

When I awaken each precious morn,
I thank the Lord for another chance
To life the life for which I was born
And the gift to have another glance
Of God's grace and goodness divine.
His wondrous creation leaves me awed.
His gifts to me which now are mine
Are daily given by my loving God.

Connie,
Absolutely beautiful and so profound! Yes, it's all the little things around us that bring richness to our life. All we need to do is to simply notice them.
Thanks for sharing your words!!

Connie, thanks for visiting my blog during my Desk Declutter--part of my Resolution Revolution.

I enjoyed your poem, Shaking Our Faith. The stories on the news about Haiti are sobering. Amputees, for example, will not fare nearly as well as they would in other places. It breaks my heart. I cry out to the Lord to help them.

Loved the poem. It was a good reminder. If we don't look for the gift in each day we certainly won't find it. The rainbow is a lovely picture. We have one we took when we were looking for our son in Hawaii. The rainbow has a very special meaning for us. Thanks for sharing.
